Privacy & Data Protection

How we collect, use and safeguard your personal information.

Overview

WSU Global Health Kenya is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who interacts with our platform. This statement explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe. It is designed around the principles of purpose limitation, data minimisation and transparency.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as when you request access to a publication, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us. This may include your name, organisation, and email address.

When you request a gated publication, we record your name, organisation (if provided) and email address, together with the date of the request. This allows us to deliver the document and to understand how our research is being used.

How we use your information

Email addresses collected through document requests are used to deliver the requested document, to track engagement, and to report on publication access patterns. Newsletter emails are used only to send you the updates you have subscribed to.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except where necessary to operate the platform (for example, our email delivery provider).

Data Protection Statement

Documents you request are never publicly accessible. Files are stored privately and streamed to you through a secure, server-mediated process — the underlying storage location is never exposed to your browser.

Access request logs are retained for 12 months and then automatically purged. This retention period is configurable by our administrators.

Our platform is designed with GDPR principles in mind, including purpose limitation, data minimisation and user notification. Where required, EU data residency options are available through our infrastructure providers.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to withdraw consent for communications at any time. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
