The hypertension care cascade in informal urban settlements of Nairobi

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases are rising rapidly in urban East Africa. Using a population-based survey in two informal settlements, we mapped the hypertension care cascade from awareness through to control. Substantial losses occurred at the diagnosis and treatment-initiation stages, pointing to clear opportunities for community-based screening and linkage interventions.
