A digital contact-tracing tool for tuberculosis: usability and yield in a high-burden setting

Abstract

Effective contact tracing is essential to interrupting tuberculosis transmission. We developed and tested a mobile contact-tracing application with community health workers, assessing usability, data quality and case yield. The tool increased the number of contacts screened per index case and reduced time-to-evaluation, demonstrating the value of lightweight digital tools in TB programs.
